In 2005 I was diagnosed with liver disease and
after a lengthy time of medical interventions, and prayers I went to Medjudgorje in Bosnia-Herzogovina and had a miraculous
healing. I was given a second chance by God. God had a mission for me that had yet to be fully realized. My mission is
to help others in need. I started running marathons to raise money and awareness of various causes including children with
cancer and leukemia. I have run ten marathons so far and I am now focusing on running my first ultra marathon of 150 miles
across the desert in Morocco. My cause is for Mogra Star Academy and Orphanage in Muthare slums of Nairobi, Kenya.
Mogra
Star Academy is a school for 1500 students who come from the streets and slums of Muthare. It also includes an orphanage
and a center for AIDS patients to be fed and taken care of. One Hundred percent of the monies raised will go directly to
building a new orphanage and school buildings outside of the slums so the children will have a safe place to live, play and
go to school. Mogra Star Academy is surround by poverty, disease, and hardship of very kind. The realities these children
face every day is beyond what most of us can imagine. Your generosity will play an integral part in feeding AIDS victims,
caring for the basic needs of these children, education, and a safe place for the orphans to live and play. I feel I have
been blessed living in such a great community and would like to pass on the same blessings and opportunities of hope to these
children. You may gather more information and see who and what Mogra Star is all about by clicking on their website, www.mograstar.org
.Thank you for your help and generosity in providing a future of hope for these children and all who work with them. May
God bless you as you bless them. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the
things I can, and wisdom to know the difference. |

LIFE
CAN CHANGE IN FIFTEEN SECONDS
No truer statement can be made as to what happened to me before the marathon
that I was to participate in even got started. For those of you who have not yet heard about my unfortunate incident in Morocco,
this is what occurred. The weather at the time of the race was horrid. Torrential downpour was an understatement.
The start of the race postponed due to the inclement weather and we all were put up in hotels. To combat boredom, myself and
a handful of other racers decided to go for a run. Not long into it, I cant even tell you how it happened but I tripped
over a rock or something and went down. Unfortunately my left wrist broke my fall but also was fractured in the process.
All I can say at that moment I was surrounded by many caring and loving people. After accessing the situation, I had to go
to the hospital to be treated. Being so far from home and in this predicament tested my faith. But, things happen for reasons.
The Moroccan people, the Doctors and a special nurse from New York (Lynn Hewitt, I hope I spelled it correctly), and a friend
named Tess; all did an outstanding job to put me at ease. Having had my wrist set, and then evaluated again, it was
decided the best thing for me was to return home. So flying back to New York, then Salt Lake and finally home gave me plenty
of time to think. Things happen for reasons
. I didnt even want to hear it. I felt more like, why me, why now
and why this. I try to deal with a range of emotions on any given day, from frustration to anger, from hurt to sadness. But
as you who know me well, I found that I was also disappointed. Disappointed in a variety of ways, but realizing that all this
hurt, anger, sadness couldnt change anything; I want to turn disappointment into His appointment. I realize things could
always be worse, and I am thankful to be home and with my loved ones. Happy to live in such a beautiful place, and thankful
for my faith that, with your prayers will help get me through this ordeal. They say that all dark clouds have a silver
lining, so I decided to look for one in this situation. I will not let this setback dampen my spirits to run a marathon again,
especially for the Mogra Star Academy. These children need our help and I feel that I can still make a difference in their
life. You can too. Please dont hesitate to donate to this worthwhile cause; you dont need a race or marathon to
do so. Finally, I just want to thank my teammates and all the people that helped me in my time of need. I would especially
like to thank my coaches, Lisa and Jay for all the attentive support they shared with me and all my other teammates. Last
but not least, I want to congratulate my teammates for achieving an outstanding win (First Place)!! I may not have been there
physically, but in spirit I was there. Once again thanks to all, and if I forgot anyone, please forgive me. Keep me in your
prayers so that my upcoming surgery on my wrist will be successful and heal in a timely manner. Sincerely, Teresa
UPDATE:Just
a note of thanks for all your thoughts and prayers in this time of healing for me.In regards to my operation , the prognosis
is good, and recovery should be right around the corner.I appreciate you still praying for me. |
